Everything you need to know about our services, how we work, and how to get started. Can't find an answer? Just call us.
Getting started
In many cases we can arrange care within 24–48 hours of completing an initial assessment. For emergency situations, same-day packages can sometimes be arranged. We'll always work to your timeline and won't rush any decisions that affect your loved one's safety.
A senior care coordinator (often a registered nurse) visits your home for a free, no-obligation assessment. They'll talk through the person's daily routine, medical needs, preferences, and goals. This informs a personalised care plan. You can ask as many questions as you like — there's no pressure and no commitment at this stage.
Absolutely. We always arrange an introductory meeting between the client, their family, and the proposed carer before care begins. We want everyone to feel comfortable with the match. If it doesn't feel right, we'll find someone better suited — no questions asked.
VLL Healthcare operates across England. We cover London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Bristol, and many surrounding areas. If you're unsure whether we cover your location, please call us and we'll confirm immediately.
Our carers
Every carer undergoes enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks, verified employment and character references, a skills assessment, and mandatory training before working with any client. We also conduct regular supervision visits, annual reviews, and ongoing professional development to maintain standards.
All carers complete a mandatory induction covering safeguarding, manual handling, medication management, first aid, infection control, and dignity in care. Specialist carers receive additional training in dementia, complex conditions, end-of-life care, and clinical procedures as required.
We maintain a pool of trained cover carers specifically to ensure continuity of care is never disrupted. If your carer is unavailable for any reason, we'll arrange a fully briefed replacement with minimal notice. We notify you as early as possible and ensure a proper handover.
Services & care
Our minimum visit is 1 hour, and we can accommodate care from a single visit per week up to full 24-hour live-in care. We don't believe in forcing packages that don't fit — care should be exactly what's needed, nothing more and nothing less.
Yes. Many of our carers have specialist dementia training and experience. We follow person-centred dementia care approaches that focus on familiarity, routine, and dignity. For complex dementia needs we'll assign a specialist carer and ensure clinical oversight from our nursing team.
Yes. We understand that care needs change. You can adjust visit times, frequency, and services with reasonable notice. If you need to cancel or pause care, please speak to your care coordinator. We'll work with you to find the best solution and won't hold you to arrangements that no longer work.
Funding & costs
Costs vary depending on the type of care, hours required, and complexity of needs. We provide transparent, itemised pricing during your assessment — no hidden fees. Hourly rates for standard home care are competitive with regional averages, and live-in care is often significantly more cost-effective than residential care. Call us for an indicative quote.
Yes. Many of our clients receive funding through NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC), local authority direct payments, or personal health budgets. We have experience supporting families through these processes and can advise on eligibility. It's always worth a conversation — many people don't realise they may be entitled to funding.
Yes, we are an approved provider for local authority direct payments. If you receive a direct payment from your local council to purchase your own care, you can use it to fund VLL Healthcare's services. We'll work with you and your social worker to set this up smoothly.
Quality & regulation
Yes. VLL Healthcare is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator for health and social care in England. CQC registration means we are regularly inspected against national standards covering safety, effectiveness, responsiveness, care, and leadership.
We take all feedback seriously. If you have a concern, you can raise it directly with your care coordinator, by emailing info@vllhealthcare.co.uk, or by calling our office. We aim to acknowledge all complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 14 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you have the right to escalate to the CQC or the Local Government Ombudsman.
We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and comply fully with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Client data is stored securely, shared only with those directly involved in their care, and never sold to third parties. View our full Privacy Policy for details.
